Smoke Detector Applications
The detector can alert occupants when smoke is detected and send a notification to designated users through the mobile application. It can also trigger compatible alarm sounders, emergency lighting, or other predefined automation responses.
The required number and placement of detectors must be determined according to the approved project design, the manufacturer’s instructions, and applicable fire safety requirements. Locations exposed to cooking fumes, steam, or other potential causes of nuisance alarms must be carefully considered.
Supply and Installation
The work includes the supply and installation of a Zigbee smart smoke detector, selection of an appropriate mounting location, installation in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and project requirements, and pairing with the Zigbee gateway and mobile application.
It also includes configuration of the agreed notifications and automation scenarios, verification of integration with the fire detection system where approved, and functional testing using the manufacturer’s specified method to confirm audible alarm operation, notification delivery, and automation triggering.
Important Safety Notice
Mobile notifications must not be treated as the sole means of fire warning because they may depend on internet connectivity and Zigbee gateway availability. A Zigbee detector may only form part of an approved central fire alarm system after its certification, control-panel compatibility, and inclusion within the approved design have been verified.
Detector selection and installation should comply with the Saudi Fire Protection Code SBC 801 and the manufacturer’s instructions. The National Fire Protection Association recommends testing residential smoke alarms monthly using the test button.
